Day 1:
Guests arrive at Trieste Airport and check into the hotel – Benvenuti all ‘aperitivo. Guests will experience their first Italian Aperitivo at Gambero Rosso rated bar Bosio Bistrot. Together we’ll enjoy a special personalized cocktail and small bites from owner Gianfranco and his team. Let’s dive into our first wine tasting flight!
Day 2
Taste of the Collio – We begin our day exploring the hills and vineyards of Friuli. Paired with fresh produce and the best of local farmer's meats and cheeses, we’ll taste and learn about typical grapes like Ribolla Gialla and Refosco. If you love taking a step even closer to nature, like I do, then join me on horseback as we ride through rolling vineyards. From winery to winery, we’ll be greeted by local winemakers who have been anticipating our arrival with their delicious wines to taste. Dinner will be an experience at “Il Giardino Segreto.” Immerse yourself in typical local Friuli cuisine made daily by the hands of Nadia and her team. Dream away in her secret garden with a glass of bubbles and live the true Dolce Vita. We’ll ease into the evening tasting homemade gnocchi and Nadia’s legendary Millefoglie dessert.
Day 3
Taste of Prosciutto – Start the day with a visit to San Daniele, the capital of Friuli’s Prosciutto. With wine flowing all along the way, we’ll tour through a prosciutteria and enjoy all the different stages of Prosciutto di San Daniele. For the metropolitans, we can visit old castle cities and the local towns like Gorizia, Cividale, Palmanova. Let’s enjoy an afternoon of stylish Italian shopping in Udine or Trieste.
Day 4
La Costa – Discover Friuli’s sea coast. We’ll visit Grado for a breezy walk along the sandy Adriatic shoreline. Lunch will be eaten along the way at one of the incredible local seafood restaurants like Al Pescatore. We’ll spend the afternoon basking in the sun at one of the local rocky beaches like Sistiana. As the sun sets, we’ll sail through the gulf of Trieste and sip aperitivo as we ready our palates for an unforgettable dinner right across the Slovenia border.
Day 5
Le Montagne – Hike or ski lift through the Friuli Dolomites and absorb the breathtaking views of the Italian Alps. Delight your palate with exquisite Michelin rated restaurants like Laite and Mondschein where every bite is a fantasy. Live and breathe the Italian mountain food and wine culture influenced by the Austrian border. Winter trips are available for skiers and snowboarders who want to enjoy white powdery slopes woven through the Italian and Austrian Alps.
Day 6
La Cucina – Learn to cook like an Italian nonna firsthand as we make local dishes like Frico, polenta or gnocchi. Take a cooking class where you’ll learn to replicate your favorite dishes back at home with your family & friends. End your trip with dinner enjoying food, wine at hidden local gems, and reminiscing over your travels. Together we’ll dine and enjoy our final night together, planning your next Italian adventure in a new region where future discoveries await you.
Day 7
Ciao Ciao – Guests are transferred back to TRS Airport for departure.
